Stupid Girl

From Garbage and their self-titled debut album released in 1995
Alternative/Indie Rock

“Don’t believe in fear, don’t believe in faith, don’t believe in anything that you can’t break”

Working on the lyrics, “Stupid Girl” became an “anthem for a girl who won’t settle for less than what she wants”.[11] Later she added, “[“Stupid Girl” is] really about squandering potential, [it’s] our version of Madonna’s ‘Express Yourself’, but a little more subversive”.[12] Manson aimed the song as a rebuke towards a friend’s foolish behaviour: “A lot of females still find it difficult to find their own voice in society. It’s just that women have a different set of problems from men… make the most of your potential.”[13] Manson added that “Stupid Girl” was “a song of reproach to a lot of people we know”, both male and female,[14] and that “we could have called it ‘Stupid Guy,’ but we thought another song about a strident female dissing a guy would be tedious.”[15] –  Wikipedia – Stupid Girl by Garbage, song history and analysis

One More Try

I’ve had enough of danger And people on the streets
I’m looking out for angels, Just trying to find some peace
Now I think it’s time, That you let me know

So if you love me
Say you love me
But if you don’t
Just let me go…

‘Cause teacher
There are things that I don’t want to learn
And the last one I had
Made me cry
So I don’t want to learn to
Hold you, touch you
Think that you’re mine

Set Them Free, You’ll be Glad You Did

If you love someone, set them free.

If they come back, it means no one else liked them.

Set them free again.

Living In Oblivion

You can’t hide the pain, I can see it scrawled on your empty face

And I feel the hurt, it’s in the words you say

So I ask again, Am I so alone and full of pride?

To never speak out, This is my world, this is my world

Don’t tell me now, I won’t feel those words

I won’t feel the lies they tell

Can you hear my scream?
It’s for everyone, for everyone

I am so afraid of living in oblivion
I am so afraid of living in oblivion
